26 Wordstock is an annual event at the Bloomsbury Festival in London. Part inspiration, part celebration for anyone who loves words and writing. The festival’s location in Bloomsbury is symbolic, an area known as a cultural hub, home to some of the most influential writers and artists in history.
The challenge was to shake off its exclusive perception, by highlighting the diverse speakers, workshops, and activities, and celebrate the art of writing. For the identity, we drew inspiration from Bloomsbury’s literary history whilst injecting a sense of modern playfulness. The bold elegant typography was inspired by old book covers, while the joyful mix of colours and shapes reflected the creative energy of the festival and its diverse line-up. We rolled out the visual identity across print and digital.
The event attracted a broad and varied audience. The fresh visual identity even caught the attention of Bloomsbury Radio, where it was praised for its ability to capture the festival’s vibrant and welcoming spirit. The design was so well-received that it’s being carried over into the festival’s third year!
